In regards to Manning and the sign colours... Dan Backs the former Alberta Liberal MLA was quicked out of the Liberal caucus and the party some time ago. He has chosen to simply use his old Liberal signs but to spray paint the "Alberta Liberal" portion and stencil independent. As for the candidate Sandeep Dhir he's using the red, black, and white colours as he's the Alberta Liberal candidate. In fact Mr. Backs has now gone to white and gold I think it is clearly saying "independent." Plus, to be more confusing... the Tories, the Wildrose Alliance and the Independent are all running with a right-wing platform. So that leaves voters with the NDP and the Alberta Liberals. Hope this clears somethings up a bit...

Political observers in Alberta are calling it remarkable and opposition politicians are wondering what hit them after Ed Stelmach guided his Conservative party Monday to one of its biggest majorities ever.
As Premier Ed Stelmach and Alberta Conservatives savour their sweeping election victory, some people are raising a nagging concern: why so few people bothered to vote.
Voters in Alberta stuck with tried-and-true blue, giving the Progressive Conservative party an unprecedented 11th consecutive majority government in Monday's provincial election.
