It looks like Harry Chase is going to win he is 406 votes ahead of the PC. I was really diapointed to hear about the Liberal signs being knocked down reccently but I'm happy with the results so far.

I cycle to/from Varsity to downtown daily and year round. On my cycle I see HUGE PC signs, which are rudely placed in front of competitor signs. I take the time to move them behind, and have called Jennifer Diakuw's headquarters to tell them that their actions are not promoting democracy or fairness. I've also gone to North Hill library, where Ms. Diakuw's campaign literature was placed amongst the bookshelves, check out area and CDs. This again is dirty pool, unethical and unfair. I find PCs think they're above fairness, ethical behaviour and have become so arrogant that they think no one can or will stop them. Frankly, after 22+ hour waits in the emergency wards, watching the eduation system being eroded, and seeing no action toward sustainability has made me know that the PCs have nothing but more of the same to offer. My theory? PCs think continual erosion of education will ensure an uneducated populace, which only guarantees that people keep voting PC.

I find it quite suspicious that the election was called 4 days before students in residence became eligible to vote in this riding. One that the conservatives lost to the liberals in the 2004 election. Not only does this split up the student vote, but i will likely mean that less students will take the time to vote by mail in ballot.

Will there be an all candidates debate in Calgary Varsity?
Political observers in Alberta are calling it remarkable and opposition politicians are wondering what hit them after Ed Stelmach guided his Conservative party Monday to one of its biggest majorities ever.
As Premier Ed Stelmach and Alberta Conservatives savour their sweeping election victory, some people are raising a nagging concern: why so few people bothered to vote.
Voters in Alberta stuck with tried-and-true blue, giving the Progressive Conservative party an unprecedented 11th consecutive majority government in Monday's provincial election.
