At one point during his Q & A with reporters Monday morning, Tory Leader Ed Stelmach was being urged to wrap things up. He had taken questions on the environment (from a heckler and from scribes), auto insurance, returning officers and Arthur Kent. But time was getting on.
His press secretary Tom Olsen said at one point, "Premier, I'm concerned the bus is going to leave without you," as he tried to pry his boss away from the podium. Stelmach continued to answer questions for another two and a half minutes.
Needless to say, he didn't miss his ride. But someone almost did.
The next stop on the Tory tour was a meet-and-greet with the St. Albert Chamber of Commerce. As the bus started to pull away from in front of the Shaw Conference Centre, a man ran towards the door and banged on it with his hand.
It was Ken Allred, the candidate for St. Albert. The wheels stopped rolling, the door opened and Allred hopped on board for the ride to the 'burbs.
