Rod Love endorses Liberal — sorta

Maybe it was the thinner air, but Calgary Liberals were expectedly optimistic as they gathered high atop the Calgary Tower for their first election event. But the room was buzzing over comments made by Ralph Klein's former chief of staff this morning on CBC Radio.
Rod Love was part of a panel dubbed "an insiders' look at the campaign." The panel included Barry Davidson, campaign manager for Liberal Dave Taylor who is running in Calgary-Currie.
Davidson was glowing after what colleagues were calling Love's endorsement of Taylor.
When you check the tape though, it is short of an endorsement — but having someone of Love's prominence saying nice things about your candidate left those on the tower's observation deck with big smiles.
For the record, Love told Jim Brown, host of The Eyeopener on CBC Radio: "Obviously we are hoping that Arthur Kent takes that one back. Dave Taylor is a ... I will say it, he's a very good MLA. I live in Currie and every time I am around, he's there." (Listen to the full interview here.)
Arthur Kent is, of course, the former war correspondent turned Tory candidate.
This early in the campaign, any name mention is seen as positive. Several people in the room are licking their lips in anticipation of a Calgary-Currie forum. They're hoping to see the former TV reporter dubbed the "Scud Stud" take on Taylor, a former radio talk show host, in a war of words.

Everyone remain calm. I will not be endorsing any Liberals, but I will continue to say what I believe to be true.
Happy trails....
