What are you doing next Monday?

Yes. There’s an Alberta election next week.
On Saturday I washed my car, because there was finally a confluence point on the graph of the temperature in February and the length of lineup at the car wash. While waiting to break a ten into toonies, I got to enjoy a conversation between the clerk (an exhausted woman whom I suspect was faking poor English skills as a deterrent) and an aggressively amicable customer.
As a questionable means of flirting, the customer was demanding to know what the clerk’s political leaning was in the upcoming election:
Customer: “Who you voting for in the election?"
Clerk: “Cigarettes?”
Customer: “No, in the election. In about a week!! Who are you voting for?”
Clerk: “I don’t live around here. Do you need change?”
[Additional rounds of questions and unrelated responses edited for brevity.]
Customer: “The election. It’s in a week. You MUST be voting for somebody...”
Clerk: “Oh, I don’t know... Huckabee?”
Customer: “DAY-VID HUCKIE??? Well… I’m disgusted.” [Grabs cigarettes and marches out in disgust.]
From my perspective, it was unclear whether either of them really understood that there was an provincial election with Alberta candidates in a week and a half (although Mike Huckabee might actually do well here, he and Chuck Norris could come boost the Wildrose Alliance into a contender position). If you’re reading this blog, you’ve probably realized it’s happening, but apparently you’re in the minority so fire off a company memo or post it to Facebook. One week left until we exercise our democratic rights.
