A muddled truth

My friend Patty is an avid home schooler.
She was actively involved in the formulation of the new Home Education Regulation Act.
Recently she spoke to a Liberal MLA about home schooling because the Liberals had come to the aid of home schoolers on a recent legislative issue.
The MLA’s response was enlightening. They said that they were simply “acting as the Official Opposition” when they brought the questions to the Legislative Assembly and that they didn’t really support the issue in their official party policy.
So, regardless of your position on the home schooling issue, what this means is this: Just because a political party supports something while “acting as the Official Opposition” it doesn’t mean they actually live that out when they’re in government.
Don’t be fooled. Make sure you know the official party statement about issues that are of concern to you before you cast your vote.
