Political History:

This riding has been taken by the Progressive Conservatives since 1971. The incumbent, Gaming Minister Ron Stevens, gained office in 1997, beating Liberal Wayne Stewart by 3,328 votes. In 2001, Liberal Michael Broadhurst challenged Stevens and was beaten by almost 6,000 votes. Stevens' predecessor, Dianne Mirosh, was elected in 1986 and re-elected by less than 1,000 votes in both 1989 and 1992. She held a variety of cabinet posts. Tory Hugh Planche served Calgary Glenmore from 1975-86.

In 2001, voter turnout was 60.6 per cent.
