The day Hollywood came to the Yukon

TITA1943.jpgHundreds of American soldiers spent all or part of the Second World War in Whitehorse, working on the Alaska Highway and other projects.

And they needed something to do, so contractors built a movie house.

The theatre was used for the Canadian premiere of Irving Berlin's This Is The Army, and the occasion was such a big deal it was carried live over the radio.
