Vacation rental site may violate municipal laws

A growing number of local governments are cracking down on the vacation home website Airbnb.

The site allows homeowners to rent out a room or their entire home for short terms, and it has become a popular alternative for travelers seeking to avoid an expensive hotel stay.

But the practice may violate municipal hotel laws, and in some jurisdictions the owners who post their homes on these sites are facing fines.
