Ottawa dragging its feet on helmet standards
The Canadian Standards Association developed a standard for ski and snowboard helmets in 2008, but not a single manufacturer has had a helmet certified under those new rules.
Safety experts say the federal government has succumbed to pressure from industry lobbyists, and that is putting the health of Canadians at risk.
Richard Kinar is the chair of the helmet safety committee at the Brain Injury Association of Canada, and he helped develop the new standard.
