Study shows hospitals fail at hand washing

Every year, more than 250,000 Canadians contract preventable infections while they're in hospital, and many of those infections could be stopped by the simple act of hand washing.

Despite that, studies have shown that many physicians are reluctant to agree to measures that would promote hand washing among hospital staff, and most patients are reluctant to ask a doctor or nurse if they have washed their hands.
