Cases of marriage fraud on the rise
The story of Heinz Munz should serve as a warning to other lonely Canadian seniors, according to a veteran immigration and refugee lawyer.
Munz is on the hook for $25,000 in social assistance payments made to his wife, Polina Telyuk. She was a Russian woman Munz met through a website, and she left him the day she was granted permanent residency in Canada.
That means Munz has to pay back social assistance payments made to Telyuk.
