Utility applies for power rate increase

Yukon Energy has applied to the Yukon Utilities Board for permission to raise power rates by nearly 13 per cent over the next two years.

Sport academies growing in popularity

Yukon MLA Darius Elias wants the Yukon government to consider setting up a sport academy in the territory, a school that would mix traditional education with intensive sports training.

Danny Balderson thinks the idea has a lot of merit. Balderson is a professor at the University of Lethbridge, and he has studied the impact similiar academies have had in Alberta.

The play's the thing at Homegrown Festival

Seventeen new plays are about to make their debut in Whitehorse as part of Nakai Theatre's Homegrown Festival.
