Same sex marriage statements confuse couples
The federal government has apparently flip-flopped on its stand regarding foreign same sex couples who come to Canada to marry.
A couple seeking a divorce in an Ontario court were told earlier today they weren't actually married, since Canadian same sex marriage laws don't apply if the unions are banned in the couple's home country.
Later in the day the justice minister issued another statement, saying the government intends to clarify the law.
