Crisis leads to calls for greater accountability
Aid is arriving in the community of Attiwapiskat, Ontario, in response to the housing crisis that has made headlines around the world.
At the same time, the federal government has placed the first nation under third party control, citing the fact the government has sent about $80M to the community in recent years.
Senator Patrick Brazeau, the former chair of the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples, says it's time first nations were held accountable for the money they receive from Ottawa.
