CBC’s landmark Canadian comedy series, Royal Canadian Air Farce, wrapped up sixteen years of television on December 31, 2008. This “final flight” also marked 35 years since the troupe’s first appearance on CBC Radio.
Then a year later, on December 31, 2009, the troupe reunited for “Air Farce New Year’s Eve 2009” on CBC Television, maintaining a tradition of year-end shows that began in 1992.

Air Farce on CBC Radio ran for 612 episodes, from December 9, 1973 until May 25, 1997. On CBC Television, in addition to the annual New Year’s Eve specials, Air Farce produced 332 weekly episodes of topical comedy from Friday, October 8, 1993 through Friday, December 5, 2008, attracting an average-minute audience of over a million viewers for every episode, making it Canada’s most enduring and successful television comedy series.
