Guerrillas in Our Midst
Broadcast Date: October 2, 2008 (Originally aired 29 March, 2007)
Not long ago, the city of Boston was paralysed by a guerrilla marketing stunt: the placement of electronic signs with countdown clocks. Even more surprising was that the stunt was staged by a multi-billion dollar media empire. This week Terry O'Reilly examines why today's biggest marketers are adopting street-level guerrilla marketing tactics. And he'll introduce you to early guerrilla marketing pioneers; among them: Thomas Edison and Harry Houdini.

How do I listen to the online streaming of recent shows?Ian Adare, February 8, 2008 10:54 AM
I enjoy your show. I was somewhat disappointed that on the website someone had chosen a picture of a young gorilla to segue to your latest episode on guerrilla advertising. Given the current state of our closest primate relatives it's not cute, it’s sad.

Great show guys. I am a big fan. Particularly liked the jab at George W., the "Fool me once..." quote.
I notice you have some past shows on your website. You should mention this on your show. I was waiting for your show to be added to the podcasting list. Add my name for those in voting for podcasting but the streaming audio on the website is just as good.
Thanks for a quality show.

Just want to say that I really enjoy your radio show. Actually I prefer your show to any other show presently on the air (TV or radio). My only complaint is I can't figure out how to download it in an MP3 format to listen to it when I am on the road. Thanks for producing something worth listening to.

Regarding the electronic signs advertising Aqua Teen Hunger Force, it seems funny - the implication that Adult Swim & the Cartoon Network have enormous budgets and backing from their parent company's parent company.
The LED signs were a perfect low-budget advertisement that ties into the Atari retro-cool demographic that watches Adult Swim.
Also, as far as I know, none of the signs had countdown clocks. They were simple, flat LED signs. No respectable emergency personnel could mistake them for bombs...
What happened in Boston sure was enlightening :-)

Since this person took the time to complain about something that does not matter and will not have any effect on anything ever especially to primates I decided to take time to complain about your complaint, Sir. Much like a gorilla you are a nitpicker and this has to be one of the smallest fleas to be found. Try complaining about something important instead of being cute and sad.Grant , November 21, 2009 2:30 PM
