Four-Wheeled Furies

They are women you see every day: the smiling barista who never forgets your order, the single mom who always brings cookies to play group, the Grade 5 teacher who conducts the school choir. But several times a week, the gloves come off, the skates go on, and their alter egos take over on the fiercely competitive roller derby track.

Four-Wheeled Furies documents the Rideau Valley Roller Girls (RVRG) and the fascinating world of roller derby. These Ottawa-area women aren't simply skating around in circles. They're aggressive--sometimes downright nasty--and focused on three things: winning, having fun, and giving back to the local community.

Cue the Muse

Painter Tiko Kerr knows how to cue the muse. He has never had a dry spell. He shares his life lessons with a diverse group of emerging artists as we follow their respective creative projects in paint, dance, songwriting, music production, and luthiery:

Alexis Fletcher, a ballet dancer with Ballet BC
Colleen Rennison, a singer and band member with no formal training
Nicole Alosinac, who uses unconventional methods to craft beautiful instruments
Tiko Kerr, a painter who has mastered the ability to create in the moment and listens to his muse each stroke of the way.

North Boys, South Girls

This two-part documentary looks at the impact of the Indian Residential Schools on generations of Aboriginal and Inuit citizens. Compelling chapters explore the personal journeys of the main characters as they find their way back to their culture and traditions.

South Girls follows two Inuk women living in Ottawa who are community leaders helping other Inuit families find their way in the big city. North Boys reveals the heart-wrenching story of two Aboriginal men, friends since childhood and now in their 70s, who have spent their lifetime coming to terms with their horrific experiences at an Indian Residential School in Northern B.C.
