CBC's ReVision Quest wins for second year at imagineNATIVE film festival

ReVision Quest associate producer Wabanakwut Kinew won the Best Radio award for his episode Jesus vs. Nanabush at the 10th annual imagineNATIVE Film and Media Festival. The honour was handed out in Toronto last month, at the close of the international celebration of innovative works by Indigenous peoples in film, video, radio and new media.

The winning episode looked at religion and native people, exploring some of their different traditional beliefs, the relationship between Christianity and many native people, and why the two aren't necessarily incompatible.

“We went to an actual sweat lodge during the making of this episode, so it's nice that an authentic slice of Aboriginal life has been honoured,” said Kinew. “I am humbled.”

"It’s amazing to be recognized within the Aboriginal community for a show that works hard to bring that perspective to a wider audience. ReVision Quest tells First Nations stories from a First Nations perspective and we're very happy to be able to do this on the CBC," said Doug Holmes, executive producer.

This was the first win for Kinew as an associate producer for ReVision Quest and the second time the series has been honoured at ImagineNATIVE. Last year, associate producer Kim Ziervogel’s episode Alcohol took home the Best Documentary, Talk Radio and Current Affairs prize.
