A brave new world
This document was produced in 1968 to show the state of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in that year.
The booklet included numerous pictures of CBC personalities and programming - many from behind the scenes and which are now rarely seen today.
The document also outlines a significant amount of information about CBC's priorities and outlines some of its programming, including employing and nurturing Canadian talent.
Drama, news, performance and variety shows, sports and radio are also touched on.
The booklet talks about the role of globalization at the time and a connected world. It also discusses CBC's work in the North and Radio-Canada International.
The back of the document provides a breakdown of what it meant to be Canadian in 1968, including the demographics of the nation. It then outlines the expenditures of CBC. Maps are also included, showing CBC's broadcasting reach in that era.
Finally, it looks to the future and discusses how satellite communications are changing the face of broadcasting.(CBC Image Research Library)
