Canada's celebrations in Rewind
The first episode of Rewind'
s special CBC 75th anniversary series will air on Aug. 25.
Host Michael Enright
will be joined by Carol Off
, host of As It Happens
, to look at the theme of celebration.
"Amid war, politics and disaster, there is always room for celebration," Enright says.
The 12-part Rewind
series will provide a dynamic exploration of where CBC Radio came from, where it is now and where it is going from here. Each week Enright and a guest co-host will guide listeners through CBC's rich depository of radio archives on topics that include politics, arts and entertainment, music, drama and multiculturalism.
Highlights from this week's episode include Canada's Diamond Jubilee, the Dionne quintuplets and Marilyn Bell being the first to swim across Lake Ontario. Some of the celebrations touched on are likely to stir emotions in you - from laughter and joy to maybe some sadness now that the events are seen through the lens of history.Listen to an extended audio clip from the episode about Expo 67:
