Image of the Day: Moviola
(CBC Still Photo Collection)
Film editor Bob Murphy used the Moviola.
The Moviola was invented in 1924 as a device to allow film editors to view film while editing. Editors could study individual shots in their cutting rooms and determine more precisely where the best cut-point might be. The Moviola system was used in much of North America until the 1970s when a flatbed editor system became more common.
