Manitoba is one of the Prairie provinces that has earned Canada that title.
"A true, pure oat seed doesn't have any gluten," says Morris, Man. farmer Ray Mazinke.
Mazinke takes chef Ricardo Larrivée on a walk through an oat field to show him what makes a good crop.
