MADRID - Iraq's Governing Council opened a news conference on Sunday by stressing that former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein is indeed in U.S. custody.
"We did see Saddam. We want to assure you that he is under arrest. There should be no doubt about this," said council member Adnan Pachaci. "This is a historical event."
Four members of the U.S.-appointed council visited and spoke to Saddam. "He seemed to be unrepentant and deeply tired," Pachaci said.
