TORONTO - People in Toronto reacted to Thursday's power outage with nervousness - but there were no reports of any disturbances. Thousands took to the streets, trying to figure out what had happened.
At First Canadian Place - the tallest in the country at 72 storeys - workers gathered in groups outside as traffic ground its way through the throngs in the late-day summer heat. Nesbitt Burns employees Linda Loipersbeck, Gela McKie and Lisa McKay were among them. Loipersbeck said the first thought that came to mind was a terror attack. "It was like, let's get out of here," she said. "I'm not taking any chances. It's kind of scary," said the office coordinator.
