OTTAWA - An e-mail virus known as the "Love Bug" spread through millions of computers around the world Thursday, causing problems for everyone from Canadian pulp mills to the U.S. Pentagon.
Analysts say the e-mail, which showed up under the heading "I Love You," caused hundreds of millions of dollars in software damage and lost commerce. The cost of some destroyed files, representing years of work, were inestimable.
On Friday, a Manila Internet company said the virus had originated from two e-mail addresses in the Philippines.
