PARIS - As the dawn of the new millennium gradually moves across the globe, the world is breathing a sigh of relief that Y2K fears appear to have been overblown.
Asia, Russia, the Middle East, Europe, Africa and now parts of North American have all welcomed 2000 with fireworks and cheers, and no Y2K crashes.
One report from the U.S. Federal Aviation Agency says its air traffic control systems passed the first Y2K check by crossing midnight Greenwich Mean Time without incident.
