from CBC.ca archives | Thu, 26 Sep 1996

The 6:30 p.m. EDT broadcast of As It Happens makes CBC Radio, the first public broadcaster in the world to offer continuous, real-time transmission on the internet.

CBC English Radio vice-president Harold Redekopp says the service will greatly increase the range and impact of CBC Radio. Both CBC Radio and CBC Stereo (now Radio One and Radio Two) are streamed through radio.cbc.ca using RealAudio 3.0.
